When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.

I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.
The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.

Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.
Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.
And in a flash, she was gone.

Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.
She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.

Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.
Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
When we met again, I became her darkest storm.

Brittainy C. Cherry has managed to capture my heart in a way that no other book has ever been able to do. Sure I’ve connected with characters in previous books, but that is nothing compared to how I felt while devouring this beautifully raw and emotionally captivating read. My stomach is still in knots thinking about this story days later.

This is the kind of story that begs to be savored from beginning to end. However, being someone who has like zero self control, I found myself fully invested in this one of a kind story and ended up reading the majority of this book in one sitting. Yep totally stayed up WAY too late doing so too, but seriously I just couldn’t put it down.

Jasmine Greene and Elliott Adams are one of the most unlikely pairs I have ever read, and yet their 100% perfect for each other at the same time. These two have captivated my soul. When they cried, I cried. When they were happy, so was I. When their hearts broke, I felt mine break. And when they found happiness, I wept in joy! I didn’t think my heart could take this story, but trust me it is worth every ounce of emotion you will feel.

It’s hard to say this, but Behind the Bars actually happens to be my first Brittainy C. Cherry read. I know, I know now please put down the pitchforks and let me explain. Although I’ve had some of her books on my “overwhelming” TBR list, I just haven’t found time to sit down and read any of them. However, the moment I saw this cover (hello COVER WH*RE) and read that blurb, I just knew this had to be my first one and am I glad it was. I cannot wait to one day go back and read all of her books because I am a FAN!

If you haven’t read one of Brittainy C. Cherry’s books yet don’t wait any longer and check this story out because I cannot recommend it enough!

This was my second read from Brittainy C. Cherry.

While I admittedly had a hard time truly getting into this book, it was still very enjoyable and I can see the beauty behind it.

The emotions are raw and real in this story and the author does a beautiful job conveying those feelings through out the story.

Some pieces felt a little too slow for me but all in all – I feel like this is a solid 3.5 star read.
